Watches & Warnings

Freezing Rain Advisory
Issued: 3:32 PM PST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Freezing Rain Advisory in effect from 9 am Tuesday to 8 am PST
Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Freezing
Rain Advisory... which is in effect from 9 am Tuesday to 8 am PST
Wednesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations... Ritzville, Grand Coulee, Odessa, Wilbur, and
Coulee City.

* Ice accumulations... 0.10-0.15" with up to 0.35" from Coulee City
to Coulee Dam.

* Timing... first round of very light wintry precipitation arrives
Tuesday morning coming in the form of sleet... freezing rain... or
snow. Look for a break Tuesday afternoon with occasional
freezing drizzle then moderate to heavy freezing rain mixing
with snow and sleet at times arrives Tuesday evening and
continues through Wednesday.

* Impacts... significant ice accumulations will create treacherous
travel conditions, tree damage, and power outages. Areas with
less freezing rain will see significant impacts to travel but a
lower threat for power outages.

* Temperatures... in the teens to 20s warming to the 20s to lower
30s.

* Web page: for a detailed view of the hazard area visit
http://www.Wrh.NOAA.Gov/map/?Wfo=otx.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.

Air Stagnation Advisory
Issued: 9:36 AM MST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Air stagnation advisory now in effect until 10 am PST /11 am
MST/ Tuesday...

* advisory... a ridge of high pressure will persist over eastern
Washington and north Idaho through early Tuesday. This will
result in very light winds and poor atmospheric mixing. This
will likely lead to increased pollution levels near the
ground and deteriorated air quality.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An air stagnation advisory indicates that due to limited movement
of an airmass across the advisory area... pollution has the
potential to increase to dangerous levels. Persons with
respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for
dealing with high levels of air pollution.
