Blizzard Warning
Issued: 3:55 PM AKST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning in effect from 3 PM Monday to 6 am akst
Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Blizzard
Warning... which is in effect from 3 PM Monday to 6 am akst
Tuesday. The blizzard watch is no longer in effect.

* Snow... 4 to 7 inches.

* Visibility... reduced to one quarter mile or less at times.

* Wind... east wind 35 to 50 mph with gusts to 60 mph.

* Timing... winds will begin to increase on Monday afternoon with a
little blowing snow as the frontal boundary approaches. Heavier
snow will begin late Monday afternoon and evening as winds
continue to increase. The period of heaviest snow and strongest
wind will be late Monday evening into early Tuesday morning.
Conditions will improve Tuesday morning.

* Impacts... snowfall combined with strong winds and blowing snow
will produce white-out conditions. Travel will be very
difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to white-out
conditions, making travel very difficult. All travel and outdoor
activity is strongly discouraged.
