Issued: 4:05 AM MST Jan. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8 PM MST this
evening...

* location... eastern San Juan and La Garita Mountains above
10000 feet... including Wolf Creek Pass.

* Cause and timing... a series of storm systems will bring periods
of moderate to heavy snow to the Southwest Mountains through
this evening. The heaviest snow will occur through this morning.

* Snow accumulation... additional snowfall of 4 to 8 inches with
locally higher snow amounts expected.

* Wind... west to southwest winds 15 to 30 mph.

* Impact... roads will become icy and snowpacked with hazardous
travel conditions expected over the mountain passes...
particularly Wolf Creek. Avalanche danger will increase today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
