Issued: 4:39 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect from 7 PM this evening
to 1 PM EST Tuesday...

* locations... the southern Adirondacks region... Lake George
Saratoga region... and southern Vermont.

* Hazard types... snow and sleet.

* Snow and sleet accumulation... 4 to 8 inches.

* Timing... a mixture of snow and sleet will spread across the
areas this evening from south to north. Precipitation will
continue for the overnight hours and will be moderate to locally heavy
at times. Precipitation will taper off on Tuesday morning.

* Impacts... snow and slush covered roads and low visibility will
make for hazardous travel. Sidewalks, driveways and parking lots
will be very slippery. The combination of gusty winds and wet
snowfall may lead to some localized power outages as well.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Locally
higher gusts to 50 mph possible over southern Vermont.

* Temperatures... in the lower to middle 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Issued: 4:25 AM EST Jan. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 am EST Tuesday...

* locations... Taconics of New York... southern Green Mountains of
Vermont... Berkshires of Massachusetts and Litchfield County
Connecticut.

* Winds... east 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing... winds will increase throughout the day today and be
strongest this evening into tonight. Winds will start to
decrease on Tuesday morning. Winds will be strongest across the
higher elevations and in areas where the winds funnels across
the hills and mountains.

* Impacts... .downed trees and trees limbs will lead to isolated
to scattered power outages.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph are
expected... with gusts between 46 to 57 mph. Winds this strong are
capable of Downing small tree limbs and branches... possibly
causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult...
especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
