Watches & Warnings

Wind Advisory
Issued: 2:05 PM MDT Sep. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT /11 PM MST/
this evening...

* timing... strong and gusty winds will peak in strength this afternoon,
and gradually subside during the evening.

* Winds... southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Localized
wind gusts to 60 mph possible in the Spring Mountains near Red
Rock and downwind of Mount Charleston.

* Impacts... strong winds will create areas of blowing dust.
Outdoor furniture and garbage cans may be blown over or blown
away. High profile vehicles will be susceptible to strong wind
gusts. Boaters on area lakes will be exposed to dangerous
winds and waves which may lead to capsizing.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means strong winds gusting over 40 mph can make
driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.

Boaters in the Wind Advisory area should use extreme caution when
venturing onto area lakes. Strong winds over the open waters will
make the lake water rough and hazardous... and may result in high
waves which may tip or swamp smaller craft. For your personal
safety... avoid the open waters. Stay close to shore or around
protected areas.
