... High rip current risk remains in effect until 9 PM CDT this
evening...

* timing... through the early evening hours.

* Impacts... strong and potentially life threatening rip currents
will occur along Gulf facing beaches of the middle Texas
coast.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

... Heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees are expected this
   evening across the southern Rio Grande plains...

The combination of temperature and relative humidity values will
produce heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees inclusive
this evening over the southern Rio Grande plains, including yet
not limited to, the communities of Kingsville, Alice, San Diego,
and Laredo. Conditions will improve by early tonight as
temperatures decrease sufficiently.

Affected residents with outdoor activities planned this evening
are urged to drink plenty of water, wear light weight and light
colored clothing, and take frequent breaks from the heat. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or
hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a
matter of minutes.
