The Flood Warning continues for
the Kankakee River at Davis
* until further notice.
* At 10 am Friday the stage was 12.9 feet and steady.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to 12.9 feet around 12 PM
Friday February 23 with additional rises possible thereafter.
* At 13.0 feet... extensive agricultural flooding is in progress.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 12.8 feet which occurred
on Aug 17 2016.

* At 11.1 feet... the river is at the 100 year flood level.

Friday February 23 with additional rises possible thereafter.
* At 28.0 feet... extensive street flooding is in progress.

* until Friday March 02.
* At 10 am Friday the stage was 12.5 feet and steady.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to a crest near 14.0 feet around 12
am Sunday February 25 and fall below flood stage around 6 PM
Thursday March 1.
* At 14.0 feet... flooding closes County roads and state routes 8, 17,
and 23. Flood water surrounds residences on the north side of Knox.

* until Wednesday morning.
* At 11 am Friday the stage was 17.5 feet and steady.
* Record flooding is occurring and record flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will fall below the 13.0 foot flood stage
around 11 am Tuesday February 27.
* At 17.0 feet... there are extensive flooding problems throughout
Plymouth.

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has issued a

* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
Elkhart County in North Central Indiana...
St. Joseph County in North Central Indiana...
Pulaski County in northwestern Indiana...
Starke County in northwestern Indiana...
Marshall County in North Central Indiana...
La Porte County in northwestern Indiana...
Cass County in southwestern Michigan...
Berrien County in southwestern Michigan...

* until 1145 PM EST Friday/1045 PM CST Friday/

* trained spotters and emergency management continued to report some
flooding and closed roads across the Flood Warning area. Areal
flooding has improved in some locations, but several roads remain
closed due to standing water across the area. Flood waters should
continue to recede over the next 24 hours, but significant
flooding will continue especially along streams and rivers.
Additional light rainfall is expected late tonight into Friday
morning, with another chance of rain Friday night through Saturday
night.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Bend, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Goshen, Michigan City, La Porte,
Niles, Benton Harbor, Plymouth, St. Joseph, Nappanee, Dowagiac,
Westville, Bremen, Buchanan, Knox, Georgetown, Winamac, Trail Creek
and Granger.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
