... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 3 PM akst
Friday...

* location... over hills.

* Blowing and drifting snow... will cause reduced visibility and
large snow drifts.

* Winds... east gusting to 45 mph.

* Timing... strong winds along with blowing and drifting snow will
continue through Friday. Winds and blowing snow will diminish
Friday evening.

* Impacts... visibility will be reduced and snow will accumulate
into drifts. Whiteout conditions may occur. Travel and outdoor
activities will be difficult. This will affect summits along the
Dalton Highway.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that one or more winter weather
hazards are expected to cause travel difficulties.

... Windy with drifting snow over hills through Friday...

Northeast winds gusting to 20 mph are occuring over hills in the
interior and causing drifting snow. This is expected to affect
summits on the Elliott... Steese and Dalton highways.

On the Dalton Highway near Finger Mountain... winds gusting to 45
mph with blowing and drifting snow are expected.

Although temperatures over the hills are in the zero to 10 below
range... the wind chills are to 35 below making the hills seem cold.
