Special Statement
Issued: 2:19 PM AKDT Aug. 26, 2016 – National Weather Service

... High water levels for rivers draining from the western Brooks
range...

Heavy rainfall in the western Brooks range last weekend has caused
rises on many streams in northwest Alaska. The Kobuk at Kiana has
more than quadrupled its flow over the past 5 days. Reports from
the Noatak river indicate many gravel bars are submerged and soils
are saturated.

Rain showers tonight through Saturday may produce light rainfall
less than a quarter of an inch. Expect high water to remain
through the weekend and be aware of increased debris coming
downstream. No flooding has been observed.
