Watches & Warnings

Blizzard Warning
Issued: 10:54 AM MST Feb. 23, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 6 am MST Saturday...

* what... ground blizzard occurring. Winds gusting near 55 mph
across the plains, with gusts as high as 75 mph in wind favored
areas and immediately east of the mountains will cause whiteout
conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is
occurring. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches are
expected over the mountains.

* Where... the northern Rocky Mountain front which includes western
Glacier County. This also includes eastern Glacier County and
the southern Rocky Mountain front.

* When... until 6 am MST Saturday.

* Additional details... travel will be very dangerous to impossible.
Roadways prone to drifting snow will likely become impassable.
Drifting snow may trap people in homes and strand travelers on
roads. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause
frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded, stay with your vehicle. The latest Road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
