... Arctic air invasion Wednesday night... with wintry precipitation
possible Wednesday night and Thursday...

A blast of Arctic air will send temperatures plunging Wednesday
night. Stiff northerly winds of 15 to 25 mph will drop wind
chills into the teens and 20s behind the front. By Thursday
morning... low temperatures will range from the upper teens in
northern Lea County... to around 30 near Fort Stockton and 40-45
along the Rio Grande.

As cold..northeast upslope winds push into The Trans Pecos after
midnight... an upper disturbance will approach and could develop a
wintry mix of freezing rain... snow... and rain along the Interstate
10 corridor. Late Wednesday night... areas south of a Guadalupe
Pass... to Wink... to Midland... to Colorado City line will be
vulnerable to freezing rain. The southern extent of the freezing
rain will be along a line extending from roughly Van Horn... to
Marfa... to alpine... to Sheffield. East of Fort Stockton... a few
flurries will be possible. Thursday morning... freezing rain could
spread north into southern eddy and Lea counties... as well as the
Permian Basin and western Low Rolling Plains. By Thursday
afternoon... freezing rain should be limited to the
Delaware... Davis... and Apache Mountains... as well as the Stockton
plateau. Although precipitation amounts are expected to be
light... dangerous travel conditions could exist in these areas
late Wednesday night and Thursday morning... if not Thursday
afternoon... as high temperatures may stay in the 30s... except
along the Rio Grande. Friday morning will be even colder... so
prepare your plants... pipes... pets... and vehicles for cold
