Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 10:20 AM MST Dec. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 6 PM MST Saturday...

* timing... periods of snow will occur through Saturday afternoon.
Expect moderate to heavy snow at times during the event.
Snowfall will decrease to snow showers by late Saturday
afternoon.

* Total snowfall... 3 to 6 inches in the northern portion of the
park around Mammoth... 6 to 10 inches in the central portion of
the park and up to 15 to 25 inches expected over the southwest
portion of the park.

* Wind and visibility... the wind will increase today. Expect
areas of west winds at 15 to 25 mph. Winds will become gusty
after midnight with winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts to 40 mph
in exposed areas. This will result in blowing and drifting
snow along with lowered visibility down to one quarter of a
mile.

* Impacts... roads may become slick and snow packed with limited
visibility at times. People planning outdoor activities should
be prepared for adverse winter weather conditions and take the
proper precautions.
