Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 1:57 PM PST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 am PST Monday...

* timing: moderate to heavy snow will continue into early Monday
morning.

* Additional snow accumulations: 1 to 2 feet above 8000 feet west
of Highway 395... with locally higher amounts near the Sierra
crest. Up to 1 foot along Highway 395. 6 to 12 inches for
valleys east of Highway 395.

* Winds: Sierra ridge winds up to 100 mph. Gusts up to 45 mph
possible in the lower elevations. Winds may damage trees and
power lines.

* Impacts: dangerous conditions for outdoor activities and travel
with periods of whiteout conditions through Monday morning over
mountain passes and areas exposed to the wind along Highway 395.
Highway 395 has been and could still be closed periodically due
to extremely low visibility. Avalanche danger will increase.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Avoid travel if possible, you could be stuck in your vehicle for
many hours and first responders may not be able to reach you. Be
prepared for extended power outages.
