Special Statement
Issued: 6:03 AM AKST Feb. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Significant storms to impact Southeast Alaska mid week...

Cool air entrenched over the Panhandle will be favorable for
preciptiation to fall as snow with the next series of weather
systems.

A low developing over the northern Gulf of Alaska Monday
night will impact the Panhandle through Tuesday with the first
band of potential snowfall. The exact track of this first low is
uncertain but currently expected to persist over the northeastern
Gulf with onshore flow and snow showers continuing.

Another developing weather system should move into the southern
half of the Panhandle starting Wednesday night with a significant
snowfall possible and the potential for snow to change over to
rain.

Forecast confidence is low to moderate due to uncertainty with
the timing and track of each system. It is likely however, that
portions of the Panhandle will receive moderate to heavy
snowfalls.
