Flood Warning
Issued: 11:20 AM EST Feb. 24, 2018 – National Weather Service

the Flood Warning has been extended for
the Saint Marys River near Decatur
* until Thursday evening.
* At 11 am Saturday the stage was 15.6 feet and falling.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage Saturday evening
and crest near 18.7 feet around 1 PM Sunday February 25 and fall
below flood stage around 10 PM Wednesday February 28.
* At 18.5 feet... County Road 225 north... just north of Pleasant Mills
Indiana is closed by flood water. Low land areas of kekionga park
on the southeast side of Decatur begin flooding. Flooding is
limited to farm land in Pleasant Mills Indiana and Wilshire Ohio.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.2 feet which occurred
on Jan 18 2012.

* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage Sunday night and
crest near 12.3 feet around 7 PM Monday February 26 and fall below
flood stage around 5 PM Tuesday February 27.
* At 12.0 feet... the flooding of County roads begin.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 12.4 feet which occurred
on Dec 29 2015.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northern Indiana and Northwest Ohio, including the
following areas, in northern Indiana, Adams, Blackford, Grant,
Jay, and Wells. In Northwest Ohio, Allen OH, Putnam, and Van
Wert.

* Through Sunday morning

* additional rainfall of 0.50 to 1 inch of rain is expected
tonight, with local amounts approaching 2 inches possible. This
will cause some flooding and low land areas as well as aid in
river rises tonight.

* Saturated grounds from recent rainfall will favor rises on
rivers, streams and creeks brining several rivers into flood.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

If you live along streams and rivers or in any flood prone area,
remain alert to this flooding potential into next week. Listen to
