Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 1:39 PM CDT May. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
southeastern Travis County in south central Texas...
northwestern Bastrop County in south central Texas...

* until 445 PM CDT

* at 138 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms moving across the area. This will cause urban and
small stream flooding in the advisory area. One and a half to two
inches of rain have already fallen with another round of heavy
rain moving in from the south. Rainfall rates of one to three
inches per hour are possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Austin, Pflugerville, Elgin, Austin Bergstrom int Airport, Manor,
Mustang Ridge, Cedar Creek, wyldwood, Hornsby Bend, Webberville and
del Valle.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
