Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 4:19 PM PST Jan. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Sunday
above 3000 feet...

* snow accumulations... very heavy snow is then expected this
evening through Sunday afternoon with 8 to 12 inches of snow and
locally up to 20 inches in the mountains.

* Locations include... portions of the Scott Valley and Etna...
high terrain of western Siskiyou County... including State
Highway 3 over Scott Mountain Summit... Sawyers Bar Road
between Etna and Sawyers Bar... and Highway 3 near Callahan.

* Impacts... snow covered roads will create slick and potentially
hazardous travel conditions this morning. Heavy wet snow then
will produce extremely hazardous travel conditions due to low
visibility and snow packed roads. Some roads could become
impassable. The heavy... wet snow could also snap tree limbs
and down power lines.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* if you must travel... keep tire chains... a flashlight...
blankets... food... water... medications... and a fully
charged phone with you.

* The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.

* See weather.Gov/Medford/cams for latest Road conditions.

* A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means that severe winter
weather is imminent and poses a threat to life and property.

... Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 am Sunday...

* winds... S 35 to 45 kt with gusts to 60 kt through late tonight.

* Waves... short period S waves building to 10 ft at 8 to 10
seconds. Large W swell 20 feet at around 17 seconds. Seas will
remain elevated through early next week.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Storm Warning means winds of 48 to 63 knots are imminent or
occurring. Recreational boaters should remain in port... or take
shelter until winds and waves subside. Commercial vessels should
prepare for very strong winds and dangerous sea conditions... and
consider remaining in port or taking shelter in port until winds
and waves subside.
