Tok, AK (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: This rose is from a plant in my Mother's garden in Minnesota. As a young bride in 1949, she got it from an abandoned homestead across the road from her house, where a German couple had planted it around 1900, bringing it to Minnesota from Chicago. It has a really heady heavenly fragrance. It does not bloom reliably in my Tok Alaska garden but it has survived our winters that routinely get down to 60's and 70's below zero Fahrenheit. It is as lovely and tough as my mother.

About katy99780

I've lived in Alaska since 1969. I love this wild land. The extremes of the far north shape and affect every living thing. Extremes of weather, elevation, daylight hours, isolation, flora and fauna, nothing in Nature is insignificant.I have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station, uploading to Wunderground, (Turks on the Tundra) the National Weather Service, the Citizen Weather Observation Program and MADIS (Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System).
