...Fairbanks snowpack for 2013...2014 winter season melts away...

The snowpack depth at the Fairbanks International Airport dropped below 1 inch yesterday and was measured at only a trace. The snowpack depth of 1 inch or greater for the 2013...2014 winter season began on the 5th of November 2013 and ended on the 21st of April 2014 for a total of 168 days. The average date for the snowpack to drop below 1 inch at the Fairbanks Airport is April 22nd. The average number of days for snowpack of 1 inch or greater at the Fairbanks Airport is 186 days. The 168 days of continuous snowpack greater than 1 inch for the 2013...2014 season is 18 days shorter than normal and is a result of the snowpack forming 19 days later than the normal date of 18 October back in the fall of 2013.

The shortest run of continuous days with snowpack depth of 1 inch or greater at the Fairbanks Airport is 133 which occurred during the winter season of 1934...1935. The longest run of continuous days with snowpack depth of 1 inch or greater occurred during the winter season of 1992...1993 with 222 days.
