The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a freeze warning...which is in effect from 10 PM CDT Saturday to 8 am CST Sunday. A Wind Advisory has also been issued. This Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 am to 6 PM CDT Saturday. The freeze watch is no longer in effect.
* Timing...temperatures near freezing will begin developing after 1 am and spreading through the early Saturday morning hours. For Saturday night into Sunday morning...temperatures near freezing will develop by 10 PM and spread overnight.
* Winds...sustained winds near 20 mph and gusts 25 to 35 mph at times.
* Temperatures...lows 28 to 34 degrees Saturday morning and lows will range from 26 to 32 degrees Sunday morning.
* Impacts...these temperatures can easily kill sensitive vegetation and may likely end the growing season across central Alabama. High profile vehicles need to be cautious especially traveling east or west. Some small or weak branches may also fall.
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 24 mph and higher... or wind gusts of 36 mph and higher...are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
