Statement as of 3:02 PM MDT on September 30, 2014

...Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 am Wednesday to midnight MDT Wednesday night above 9000 feet...

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Winter Weather Advisory above 9000 feet for snow...which is in effect from 9 am Wednesday to midnight MDT Wednesday night.

* Timing...snow will increase from the northwest Wednesday morning...and then continue through Wednesday evening.

* Snow accumulation...3 to 6 inches.

* Snow level...around 9000 feet on Wednesday...dropping to around 8500 feet or less by late evening. Accumulating snow will mainly be above 9000 feet.

* Winds...west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph...winds will become northwest and diminish in the evening.

* Impacts...roadways may become slick and treacherous. Travelers should be prepared for this early season snow with proper winter weather tires...and by carrying a winter weather emergency kit.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow and/or blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving.
