... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 545 am EDT for urban
areas and small streams in southern St. Johns and Flagler counties...
At 1203 am EDT... Weather Service Doppler radar continued to indicate
very heavy rainfall associated with tropical rainbands from Fay.
Based on radar estimates these rainbands have already produced
rainfall accumulations of 4 to 5 inches in parts of Flagler County
and 3 to 4 inches in St Johns County. Another 3 to 5 inches of rain
is possible through 545 am EDT Thursday morning. Emergency
management reported a rainfall amount of 5.75 inches in northwest
Palm Coast with rain still occurring. Additional rainfall will
worsen the situation.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways... streets and underpasses.
Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of
creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. To escape rising water move up to higher ground. Make the
smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
Flood waters may take days to recede.
To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
