...Hot and humid conditions expected today...

Southerly winds are expected to increase today...bringing in some of the warmest temperatures we have see so far this Summer. Afternoon temperatures are expected to rise into the 90 to 93 degree range. Dew point temperatures are likely to rise into the lower 70s west of I-55...perhaps reaching the mid 70s west of the Illinois River. This would result in heat index readings of 100 to 105 degrees during the midday and afternoon in that area. Further east...heat index values of 95 to 100 are more likely.

Heat safety precautions should be taken for those at risk to heat related illnesses...or if you will be spending prolonged periods of time outdoors. Remember...never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles under any car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
