Lake Effect Snow Warning
Statement as of 3:58 PM CST on February 26, 2015

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 9 PM CST this
evening...

* timing... moderate to heavy lake effect snow showers through
late this evening.

* Snow accumulations... new snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches...
with the highest amounts near the Lake. Lake effect snow will
often result in highly variable totals over short distances.

* Impacts... snow covered roads and at times sharply reduced
visibility will lead to difficult and possibly treacherous
travel... especially near the lake.

* Other impacts... winds gusting to 30 mph will cause some
blowing snow in open areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake-
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous or
impossible. Lake-effect snow showers typically align themselves
in bands and will likely be intense enough to drop 1 to several
inches of snow per hour for several hours. Visibilities vary
greatly and can drop to zero within minutes. Travel is strongly
discouraged. Commerce could be severely impacted. If you must
travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
