Light to moderate snow will continue across the Baltimore metropolitan area...the northern Washington and western suburbs of Washington DC...and adjacent portions of northern virgina...north central Maryland...and the Potomac Highlands through 1130 PM EST. Additional accumulation of one to two inches can be expected this evening. Visibility in periods of moderate snow will be reduced to under one half mile. East winds around 5 mile will continue...except over mountainous terrain...where gusts of up to 25 mph are possible. Temperatures will hold in the 20s through this evening.

Wednesday...
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST
Wednesday.
* Precipitation type... snow.
* Accumulations... 10 to 20 inches.
* Timing... snow will continue through Wednesday evening. Heaviest
snow is expected Wednesday morning through early afternoon.
* Temperatures... around 30 late this evening... dropping into the
mid and upper 20s overnight and Wednesday.
* Winds... light east winds tonight. Winds will become northwest
Wednesday and increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts around 45 mph.
Blowing and drifting snow Wednesday will reduce visibilities
near a quarter mile at times... producing near-blizzard
conditions.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. The combination of snow and strong winds
will make travel very hazardous.
