Lakeshore Flood Advisory
Statement as of 1:48 PM EDT on October 31, 2014

...Lakeshore Flood Advisory in effect until noon EDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Lakeshore Flood Advisory...which is in effect until noon EDT Saturday.

* Lake Shore flooding...water levels have rebounded in Lake Huron with recent averages running around 24 inches above chart datum. Sustained northerly winds of approximately 30 mph will impact the Southern Lake Huron basin through late tonight leading to rising water levels. Current forecasts suggest that water levels may reach 18 inches above recent averages or 42 inches above chart datum.

* Timing...the highest water levels are expected to impact the Southern Lake Huron shoreline areas tonight around midnight EDT.

* Impacts...possible beach erosion with minor Lakeshore flooding. With recent water levels this event may be comparable to October 30th 2012.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a Lakeshore Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds will generate flooding of low areas along the Lakeshore.

Wind Advisory

...Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight EDT tonight...

Hazardous weather...

* northerly winds of 30 mph or higher will gust to 50 mph through midnight.

* The strongest wind gusts will be near the Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay shoreline.


* difficulty driving high profile vehicles...especially on east west roads.

* Small objects such as trash bins will be blown around.

* a Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
