The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
melting snow in...
Big Horn County in south central Montana...
Golden Valley County in central Montana...
Rosebud County in southeast Montana...
Carbon County in Montana...
Treasure County in southeast Montana...
Powder River County in southeast Montana...
* until 515 PM MST Friday
* County officials and the Montana Department of Transportation have
reported that small stream and low land flooding is occurring over
portions of the advisory area. The elevated water levels are a
result of rapid lower elevation snow melt.
* Numerous roadways in the advisory area... including some highways
are reported to have water flowing over them at this time.
* Cooler temperatures should slow the rate of snow melt tonight and
Friday which will lessen the flooding threat.
* Residents along small streams and in low lying areas should be on
the lookout for elevated water levels and flooding. Take
precautions now to protect livestock and farm equipment.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles
