Heat Advisory
Statement as of 9:38 PM CDT on July 21, 2014

...Heat advisory remains in effect until 8 PM CDT Tuesday...

* temperatures...in the 80s through midnight will only fall into the mid or upper 70s for lows at most locations tonight and then warm back into the mid 90s to near 100 on Tuesday.

* Timing...heat index values will climb back into the 105 to 110 degree range over most of the area much of Tuesday afternoon and early evening.

* Impacts...the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. The Young and elderly are especially at risk to the heat and humidity...check up on relatives and neighbors if they do not have air-conditioning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
