Statement as of 10:02 PM CST on January 27, 2015

...A Flood Warning for an ice jam remains in effect until 545 PM CST Thursday for southwestern Douglas...east central Saunders and northwestern Sarpy counties...

At 956 PM CST...law enforcement and emergency management continued to report flooding due to an ice jam along the Platte River from Highway 92 to Two Rivers State Park. Additional information will likely be obtained once daylight arrives.

Some locations that will experience flooding include... valley...Yutan...Leshara and Two Rivers State Recreation Area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.

...Wind Advisory in effect from midnight tonight to 7 am CST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Omaha/valley has issued a Wind Advisory...which is in effect from midnight tonight to 7 am CST Thursday.

* Timing...strong winds will develop by midnight and continue much of the overnight hours.

* Winds...sustained speed from around 25 to 35 mph with gusts to over 40 mph.

* Impacts...the strong winds will create difficult driving conditions and may blow around unsecured objects such as trash cans.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds between 30 to 39 mph or gusts between 45 to 57 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
