OK --- Patti & I are discussing two of our native animals. Sharks and Gators.
Which led us to which we were more afraid of....
Which led us to the following question.

"Would you prefer death by Gator or death by Shark"

Don't like either slinky, on land or water! Hmm crab, a Cuda is fast and quick until older & wiser. Not sure Foxx? Still thinking a slinky is own worst nightmare, involes many slinks on belly's.I prefer to eat them first! Lol I am such a wuss with this types afterall. Great times indeed had. :). Be safe upcoming season all coastalites!!!!!

As to your question above....my initial reaction is neither. But if I had to choose, I'd say shark. There have been plenty of folks who have survived a shark bite (think Beth Hamilton - Soul Surfer). Don't know about survival with an alligator and we don't have 'em here!

No contest, I'll take my chances with the Gator. :)

Not ready to relinquish my "top predator" title just yet.
Ask again in 20 years.
Until then...I'll eat them.

I'm sorry to say.......... I know those legs!

NO! I'm NOT sorry.

Those are pretty historic legs. :D

Goodonya Barefoot ;o)

Gator, or Shark? Gator, or Shark?

What does a Florida Shark look like?

Hmmm, let me think about this for a minute.

Gator, or Shark? Gator, or Shark?

What does a Florida Gator look like?

Hi Foxxy,
Gators and sharks. lol Sounds like you guys had a great time.

Hope it's okay to add a little contribution to the salute. If you look real close you can see the hemlines of the lime green and fuchsia flapper outfits Daisy and Booby wore that day. I don't guess they would want me to post the photos that show the dresses, but this is probably safe. I've posted this photo every year since the 2006 salute. This seems like a good moment to post it for 2012.

Best wishes for you and yours this tropical season.

If that is my choice then I would choose the shark. Let me bleed to death in the ocean. Much more peaceful I think then in gator habitat.

I'd take them both home and fry them up!

That sounds pretty gruesome too!

I agree!!!! Don't wanna do a death roll with a creepy gator! Much rather die in the salty sea with a shark,
.

Hmmmm, wonder if you die in sea does that increase your chances of coming back as a Mermaid? Hahahaha

Barracudas - yep, they freak me out! Being underwater with heavy dive equipment on &. Barracuda staring at you is not my idea of fun!!

So glad to see you back on WU.
Tell K hi!

Wooo hoooo! A WU-bash on de beach! good onya for enacting the anti-TC-wave....... I swear, if today's weather were a month from now, I'd feel like I haz been sneaked up on, because I awoke this morning to hard driving rains and a fairly gusty wind.

Regarding the question........ well that's a tough one. Although we no longer have gators down here, I'm quite a bit more leery of them.

Sharks have scared the hell out of us on occasion, but fortunately, we appeared too big to eat. I would suggest a third contender -- barracuda. Mr. Barra really concerns me, as barra almost always appears from under or behind a swimmer and poof! is just suddenly there. They hit on flashes of light (jewelry, sunlight off a mask, for example), and really, they just seem to have a bad attitude. I mean........ they don't listen to reason at ALL, and appear fearless no matter HOW MUCH you scream and flail and.........

blah blah blah ...................................... ............................ ............... .............

Sharks are fun to catch, so yes with the fishing license & within the legal limits you can kill them.
Gators also may be killed, but you have to have permits & license from the state.

Wish they'd kill more of them, seems like there are more and more of those ugly, dinosaur, dragon lokkin creatures roaming around!

I know I'd rather go be Shark
Than gator, that death roll & dance under water sounds too frightening for me! Death by shark seems much more honorable! ROFL

Please do!

I had to sneak in and out or I might have been overcome by WU women.

Actually we were in Pensacola for a very short time. More time was spent in Orlando. Will let you know if I am there longer in the future.

Good job, girls... way to hold up the side.... lol

Hopefully things will continue to improve along the coast. Tarballs are no fun.

However, I respectfully disagree on the "most beautiful beaches" comment... The Bahamas is the place to be for THE most beautiful.... lol

Congrats on retirement!!! Always good to see you.... If you & your mother are ever in the area you better let me know!!!! 💛
We are having fun... Laughing so much! Would be awesome if more of us could get together.

Hey sweetheart,
I was glad to see you just pop in to my little blog. Thanks!
Since I am planning to leave after 25 years of teaching... to become full time caregiver to my mom, I might have more time to be in WU.
Her wish to travel might have me somewhere around you as she likes warmer areas than North MS. I will try to stay in touch.

Skye ---- would love for YOU to have been here. Patti & I surprised our dear friend CRAB. With a telephone call... Great to hear his voice, hope to see more of everyone, ESP. The oldies as the season gears up...
Who knows? We may even have some good old burro kicks, Juan Valdez and some of the old humor again.... As we gear up for Cane 2012.
Many special friends here on WU - lots of good times, memories & fun!

Great to see the ritual salute. Good turn out. It's worked so good the last many years that if one doesn't landfall this year we will break the record.

Looks like so much fun. Nice to see everyone out living:)

Would love for you guys to visit our area! We have the most beautiful beaches in the state of Florida. I want you to experience the beauty of the beaches, the bay & our natural wonder "the coastal dune lakes"!
Quoting SBKaren:
Have an absolutely wonderful time, and let's plan something BIG soon. I'd love to see your area of the country. I have visited most of our 50 states, but Hawaii, Alaska and Florida are not on that list. I was so close back in 1972 - when the Army sent us to Georgia. But we weren't there long before they transferred us to Texas!

I want to see those white sandy beaches and I want to experience warm ocean water! At least once!
