Paloma- All clear in Grand Cay

Lost power and internet this morning, all OK here in Grand Cayman, little damage eveident on the west of the island.
Hearing bad things from the Brac and little Cayman.

It appears Grand Cayman lucked out to the expense of the sister islands.

Will post more when I hear more

Winds are now 50mph plus, think we had a band go over.

Got Kita my new Pomapoo puppy curled up on lap, growling at the wind and Tara is havin a quick nap with the kities.
It's going to be a long night.

Think the power will go sooon

Slight lull now, woke up to around 45 mph winds and rain ( 4inches so far today)


We're around 100 foot away from the canal, which I have heard the water level is rising already. Started to move stuff up stairs already.

Strom expected to hit directly at 10pm tonight

Ah nuts a hurricane already

Hi everyone

A bit tired as still at work and will be for a few more hours to go, got in at 6.45 this morning, so it's going to be a long day. Luckily got water, money , petrol and supplies Tuesday (lucky or unlucky guess)

OK so news in Cayman, Pirates week is being postponed, Cayman under a Hurricane Warning, meaning

Government offices are shut as are the banks, most of the Legal firms, Trust Compnies etc will be shut also

As Tropical force winds are expected around 11am tomorrow, i'll be sandbagging early, sigh.

It also means the airport is shut at 11am onwards, and I guess we'll be under curfew too.

Current NHC path is over West bay about 1.5 miles from my house, which is about 50 yards from the ocean and around 6foot above sea level.

I will be sheltering in the house and will update until I can.

Hoping will turn East soon.

Right back to work, got 2 sets of accounts before I go home, yipee!Link
