Heat Advisory in effect, rain/storms today, and watching Atlantic

Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 79 and it feels like 80. Heat Advisory in effect for North MS until 8pm Wednesday night. Heat index readings of 105 to 109 are likely. Highs will continue to range between 91and 100 with lows between 71 and 74. There is a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms today and isolated storms will be possible each day. Few storms could be strong to severe each day with large hail and damaging winds. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 78 and it feels like 78. Today’s high is 98 with a low of 73. Wednesdays high is 100.

Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, a tropical wave associated with a surface low pressure system is located about 1100 miles West-Southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. This disturbance is showing signs of organization and environmental conditions are conducive for some gradual development to occur over the next few days. The National Hurricane Center is giving this system a low chance, 20%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves Westward at 15mph. In the Eastern Pacific, all is quiet with no development expected over the next couple of days.

There is a slight chance of isolated storms today, but better chance of rain returns late this week. Few storms could be strong to severe each day with large hail and gusty winds. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 75 and it feels like 75. Today’s high is 99 with a low of 75. Tuesdays high is 98.

Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, a tropical wave associated with a surface low pressure system is located about 750 miles Southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. There is a slight chance of isolated storms today, but better chance of rain returns next week. Few storms could be strong to severe with large hail and gusty winds. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 91 and it feels like 93. Today’s high is 93 with a low of 73. Mondays high is 99.

Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, all is quiet. In the Eastern Pacific, shower and thunderstorm activity has diminished in association with a mid-level circulation located about 350 miles West-Southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. Development of this is not expected. The National Hurricane Center is giving this system a low chance, 0%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it begins to move Westward at 10mph.

Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, all is quiet. In the Eastern Pacific, shower and thunderstorm activity has increased over the past few hours about 100 miles West-Southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. However, there are no signs of any surface circulation and development will be slow to occur. The National Hurricane Center is giving this system a low chance, 10%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it begins to move Westward at 10mph.

Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, an area of disturbed weather near the Bahamas, South Florida, and the Florida keys is not expected to develop. Cloudiness and showers associated with the disturbance have diminished. The National Hurricane Center is giving this system a low chance, 0%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. In the Eastern Pacific, an area of low pressure located about 275 miles South-Southeast of Manzanillo, Mexico is producing widespread cloudiness and scattered thunderstorms. Upper-level winds and other environmental conditions are becoming more conducive for a tropical depression to form over the next couple of days. The National Hurricane Center is giving this system a high chance, 80%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves West or West-Northwest at 10 to 15mph.

Rain chances should be low going into this week, but isolated pop-up storms will be possible each day. Few storms could be strong to severe with large hail and gusty winds. Heavy rain and localized flash flooding will also be a threat. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 86 and it feels like 94. Today’s high is 88 with a low of 73. Mondays high is 95.

Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, an area of disturbed weather near the Bahamas, South Florida, and the Florida keys is producing numerous showers and a few strong thunderstorms. Although thunderstorm activity has increased today, surface pressures are high and upper-level winds are marginally favorable for this to develop. This disturbance is expected to move into the Gulf by Tuesday. The National Hurricane Center is giving this system a low chance, 10%, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves Northwestward around 15mph. Heavy rain will continue for South/Central Florida, the Northwestern Bahamas, and the Florida Keys over the next day or so. Tropical Depression Fabio will continue to weaken and is headed toward California. The remnants of Fabio may provide a decent shot of rain for the Southwest. There is also an area of disturbed weather, which is located about 825 miles Southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, is being watched for potential development.
