Photos: IRENE Flooding in Northeast NJ

Just thought I would post a followup to my live blogging from Irene last week.

These are a few of the photos and videos I took today of the catastrophic flooding in my area. All of these photos were taken across Little Falls and Wayne/Willowbrook, NJ.

Let's see if we can get them on CNN!


(1) Flooding in Little Falls. There were National Guard stationed at the entrance to the street, and a couple of evacuated locals having a barbecue.


(2) A view of a gas station near Willowbrook Mall. That mall (which is Wayne's main source of commerce) is probably totally ruined. Together with the Cheesecake Factory.


(3) Who the hell left THAT there?


(4) A bridge right next to the gas station. Really gives you a good idea of how high the water is. The clearance on that bridge is 7 feet.


(5) A view down Route 23.


(6) Another flooded building along Route 23 in Wayne.

(7) Self-explanatory.


(8) Flooded parking lot and car wash.


(9) Route 23


(10) A flooded kitchen emporium. They had all of their stuff laying out in the street, plus big hoses pumping out water.

(12) A view of the raging Passaic River at Little Falls. No, it doesn't normally look anything like this.

(13) Another view of the Passaic from the bridge in the last picture. Those buildings alongside the river are highrise apartments.


(14) Police vehicle venturing deep into the flood zone.


(15) Chris Knowles, who's doing hourly reports for CNN.
