Happy Father's Day to everyone! It looks to be clear and warm today. As of right now, we are at 83 already with a heat index of 89.

I will be monitoring the Bay of Campeche during this upcoming week. The models are indicating that we may have tropical development, but it is too early to tell if it will affect our weather. My thinking right now is probably not, but time will tell.

Current advisory from NWS Mobile:
... High rip current risk remains in effect through this evening...

* timing... through early Sunday evening.

* Impacts... a high risk of rip currents means wind... wave... and
tidal conditions support the development of widespread
dangerous rip currents. Rip currents are life threatening to
anyone entering the surf.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore... which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach
patrol. Pay attention to flags and posted signs.

If you become caught in a rip current... do not panic. Remain calm
and begin to swim parallel to shore. Once you are away from the
force of the rip current... begin to swim back to the beach. Do
not attempt to swim directly against a rip current. Even a strong
swimmer can become exhausted quickly.

new rip current hazard...

I will update later on tonight.
