23.41 A quiet night as many teams are involved in friendlies. Perhaps, as is rumoured, Manchester United are locked in talks with Valencia over David Silva. Perhaps not but Spurs fans can rest easy; Heurelho Gomes says he's staying, despite considerable interest. Make sure you Spurs fans sleep tight.
21.28 Twitter is the place to go if you want to hear about football transfers. Team USA striker Jozy Altidore has revealed he may be playing for Hull City by pointing out on the social network site: "First match is against Chelsea, subject to a work permit *wink* *wink*," wrote Altidore. "Thanks for the support and love - keep it coming." Hull are also to sign Stoke midfielder Seyi Olofinjana who looked headed for Monaco when last we checked.
20.30 Xabi Alonso has been unveiled as a Real Madrid player. "It's the best opportunity for me to develop as a footballer,'' says Xabi to a chorus of boos on Merseyside.
19.34 Hull City look to have made a double signing. SA striker Jozy Altidore and Stoke midfielder Seyi Olofinjana are to be publicly unveiled so expect some grandstanding from Phil Brown.
18.06 Strong words from Steve Bruce on Darren Bent. "He's everything I want," says the Sunderland boss who got the striker for £10m, considerably less than Spurs wanted for him.
17.54 Twitter user Darren Bent is now a Sunderland player as his unhappy two years at Tottenham, in which he has grabbed a decent goal tally, comes to an end.
17.26 Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has signed a new three-year contract, which means he'll be at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable.
