A little about my self -

I joined weather Underground in August of 2005 right after they opened the blogging feature. I have been a weather hobbyist since the middle 60's when I lived on the west coast of Florida, north of the Tampa Bay area. I currently live in a small community in central Illinois.

I have been through numerous Hurricanes during my life time. The worse being Hurricane Camille in August 17,1969, A Cat 5, where the eye passed over the location I was at. That being Biloxi, Ms when I was in the USAF stationed at Keesler AFB.

Hot and muggy. The radar is clear here. There's some storms in central AL and some up on NC's Outer Banks.

It's 85F now at 10:15. The humidity is 70%, with the heat index at 95F.

I'm looking forward to some fall temps!

The rain received is what I call quality rain .. even at its hardest there was no run off to the ditches at all it all sank in as fast as it fell ...

Wonderful!

I was afraid things were so dry that it was just going to run off. Thank heavens it is soaking in.

Nah, I don't think we'll get anywhere the same amounts this week, that we got last Tues/Wed. The NWS is only showing 20-30% daily.

I'll just have to keep my eyes on the radar and check for any possible advisories. The usual routine.

Isaac's COC is located just to the SE of me as it moves slowly eastward .. and we may see a few light showers in the area .. really a hit and miss type of showers ...

Have received more rain in the last three days then we did all of last month ...

Just dumped the rain gauges and on the more accurate one we got 4.1 inches total .. (300 Ft apart) on the cheaper plastic one we had 3.9 inches ..

I see Charleston made #17 on Dr. M's list of rainfall totals in his current entry.

From what I gather, Isaac's remnants may bring us more rain this week. Guess he wasn't happy with just one pass through the Holy City. Damn this reputation for Southern hospitality. It attracts unwanted guests for repeat visits.

Still under flood warning 10 miles from our house!

Record August rainfall set at West Palm Beach:
Palm Beach International Airport received 22.66 inches of rainfall last month, making it the wettest August on record. The previous record for August was 20.12 inches - set back in 1995. Records for the West Palm Beach area have been kept since 1894.

Isaac became a developing low (extratropical) early than expected, I guess.

Wab, 2.5 inches? That's a lot more than you gotten in a long, long time. Hope it continues for a while; slowly, though. Not to the point where that dry ground can't absorb it and just runs off.

I was hoping you'd get the rain without the tornados. Just keep your eyes peeled and ears to the ground.

Hi, Wab!

White wabits to you.

Hope you get some more rain. It looks like it, on the radar. and your forecast sounds promising:

OCCASIONAL SHOWERS WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH SUNDAY
NIGHT BEFORE THE WEAKENING LOW PRESSURE AREA SHIFTS OFF TO OUR
EAST. TOTAL RAINFALL FROM THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 2
TO 5 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

THE NEXT BEST CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE ON
WEDNESDAY AS A COLD FRONT APPROACHES THE AREA.

I did get a gander at the blue moon last night. Boy, when that thing was rising, it was huge and so golden. I was lucky that it cleared off; it was kinda cloudy earlier.
