Blizzard Watch
Issued: 4:00 PM CST Feb. 6, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a blizzard
watch... which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday
afternoon.

* Timing... late Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

* Storm total snow accumulations... up to 2 inches.

* Winds/visibility... northwest winds 30 to 35 mph with gusts to
near 50 mph. Visibilities may drop below one quarter mile for
an extended period with near whiteout conditions possible at
times.

* Impacts... considerable blowing and drifting snow can create
treacherous travel conditions and even lead to nearly
impossible travel in some areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and/or
blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities.
This can lead to whiteout conditions and make travel very
dangerous.
