Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 8:48 AM EDT on August 03, 2015

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1030 am EDT for
northwestern Hillsborough and northern Pinellas counties...

At 845 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated slow moving thunderstorms
with very heavy rainfall across the warned area. 2 to 4 inches of
rain has already fallen. Another band of thunderstorms currently
over the warned area will cause an additional 2 to 4 inches through
1030 am.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Tampa... Clearwater... largo... Temple Terrace... Lutz... University...
East Lake... greater Northdale... Pebble Creek... Palm Harbor... Harbor
Bluffs... Keystone... Lake magdalene... Citrus Park... greater
Carrollwood... town 'n' country... Safety Harbor... Oldsmar... Belleair
and Belleair Bluffs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

... High rip current risk remains in effect through this
afternoon...

* rip current timing... through late afternoon.

* Rip current impacts... marine conditions support stronger or
more frequent rip currents. If caught in a rip current... do
not fight it by trying to swim back to shore. Try to get the
attention of lifeguards by calling out or waving your hands.
If you are able or if no help is available... swim parallel to
the beach until the current weakens... and then swim toward
shore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore... which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins...
jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards and the beach
patrol. Pay attention to flags and posted signs.
