Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:41 PM CDT on August 29, 2015

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
eastern Walker County in central Alabama...

* until 645 PM CDT

* at 339 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of
rain have already fallen based on radar estimates.

Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over eastern
Walker County. This additional rain will cause small stream flooding
and flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
