Nowcast | as of 3:13 PM CDT on September 30, 2014

A band of rain with isolated heavy showers and maybe a thunderstorm are racing to the north...while drifting slowly to the east from the Dakotas...into western and south central Minnesota. The leading edge is moving away from Ortonville...Madison...Canby... Marshall...Slayton and Worthington...very slowly towards Morris... Appleton...Montevideo...Windom and Jackson between now and 600 PM. Look for the rain dissipate and evaporate over central Minnesota south of Willmar and Olivia...eventually some scattered showers may reach the Minnesota river near Mankato and New Ulm...west towards Redwood Falls and Granite Falls this afternoon and evening. More periods of moderate rain are lifting out of Iowa towards parts of southwest and south central Minnesota between now and 600 PM. For the most part the rain is weakening and dissipating as it moves into Minnesota.
