Periods of snow will continue across northwest and north central New Mexico through the late evening hours. The northern mountains as well as areas around Taos will see an additional 1 to 2 inches of snow through 9 PM. Another inch of snow is also possible around Cuba and Lindrith...though rain may mix in with snow for areas around Farmington and Bloomfield...yielding little additional accumulation. Expect difficult or dangerous winter driving conditions with icy roads...especially in the high terrain. Some roads may be impassible. ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM MST Sunday...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow remains in effect until 4
PM MST Sunday.

* Snow accumulations... an additional 15 to 30 inches is expected
above 8500 feet... with 8 to 15 inches below 8000 feet. Heavier
snow amounts this weekend will favor west and southwest facing
slopes above 8500 feet.

* Timing... periods of heavy snow will continue through at least
Sunday with snow showers expected to persist into Monday and
Tuesday.

* Winds... significant winds are not expected.

* Snow levels... temperatures will be cold enough for snow at all
locations until later tonight through Sunday when the snow
level will lift to around 8000 feet.

* Local impacts... treacherous travel conditions due to snow
packed and icy roadways are likely along with reduced
visibility in locally heavy snow. Road closures will be
possible. Structural integrity issues may arise due to the
weight of heavy snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow

emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food...
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
