Nowcast | as of 5:26 am CDT on May 29, 2015

Widespread showers and thunderstorms will continue to occur over south Texas until 630 am CDT in association with a squall line that extends northeastward from Zapata towards the Texas coast and then northward into Oklahoma. The leading edge of this line was producing winds up to 60 mph in some locations...along with heavy rain exceeding 2 inches per hour in some locations. Behind the line...widespread light to moderate rainfall is covering much of the inland coastal Bend...Rio grand plains...and Victoria Crossroads. The line is moving southeastward around 30 mph and the strongest portion will push offshore by 6 am. However...there is a weaker embedded line of storms located over the Rio Grande plains pushing eastward around 30 mph as well. If you hear thunder... go inside! Lightning is one of nature's number one killers!

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
