Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, July 05, 2009.
While tropical storm activity is not anticipated on Saturday, unsettled weather will continue over Central America. A trough of low pressure over Mexico will continue pulling moisture over the country, allowing for moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms to develop along the West Coast, while widespread scattered showers will stretch over most of the country. To the south, a tropical wave will continue on its westward track over Central America, triggering heavy storms over Guatemala and the Yucatan Peninsula on Saturday. Elsewhere, onshore flow from the Caribbean Sea over Central America will continue kicking up wet weather stretching from Honduras to Panama. Moving over the Caribbean Sea, moderate to heavy storms are expected to develop over the Lesser Antilles due to a tropical wave moving in from the east. Wet weather will also develop over the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas in the afternoon and evening hours.
In South America, a tropical wave will extend into Venezuela , which will produce strong storms that will track westward on Saturday. Otherwise, expect wet weather over most of the northern countries and northern Brazil. To the south, a frontal boundary will linger over southern Brazil, bringing wet weather with it, with areas of strong storms anticipated. Sao Paulo will see periods of heavy rainfall with highs near 70(F)/ 21(C), while Rio de Janeiro may see another day of severe storms and highs in the lower 70s(F)/ lower 20s(C).
Further south, high pressure will bring dry and pleasant weather to northern Chile and Argentina on Sunday. Meanwhile, a strong low pressure system moving over the southern tip of the continent will kick up heavy precipitation over southern Chile and Argentina. Santiago will see cloudy skies with highs remaining in the lower 60s(F)/ mid-teens(C).
