Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 18, 2013.

Areas of active weather will continue moving through Asia on Saturday. A trough of low pressure over eastern China will create a cold front that slides eastward throughout the day. This system will pull moisture and energy in from the East and South China Seas, kicking up showers and thunderstorms across southern and eastern China. Some of these storms may turn severe with strong winds and heavy rainfall. Hong Kong will be overcast with showers and thunderstorms and highs in the upper 80s(F)/ upper 20s(C), while Shanghai will be overcast and rainy with highs in the lower 70s(F)/ lower 20s(C). Beijing will be north of this system with sunny and dry conditions and highs near 90(F)/ 32(C). To the east of this system, a ride of high pressure remains the dominant weather feature over the Sea of Japan and Japan. This system will push moisture away to the north and south, maintaining warm and dry conditions. Tokyo will be sunny and dry with highs in the lower 70s(F)/ lower 20s(C).

In Australia, a ridge of high pressure remains the dominant weather feature over the country, creating another dry and warm day. However, a series of systems passing to the south will bring a few more coastal showers to southern and southeastern Australia. Sydney will be partly cloudy and dry with highs near 70(F)/ 21(C).
