... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening...

* locations... Lawrence County Kentucky and portions of western
and northern West Virginia

* hazard types... snow.

* Total snow accumulations... 10 to 14 inches for northeast
Kentucky and the tri state area. 4 to 8 inches in the Kanawha
valley and southeast West Virginia... including the Charleston
and Beckley area. 8 to 10 inches in the northern West Virginia
lowlands and the northern West Virginia mountains.

* Timing... snow will taper off from west to east this afternoon.

* Impacts... untreated roads and sidewalks could become snow and
ice covered. Reduced visibilities... below one mile at times...
can be expected. Snow could cause downed tree limbs and power
outages.

* Temperatures... mainly lower to mid 20s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food...

The National Weather Service in Charleston WV has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Ohio River at Huntington.
* From Friday morning to Saturday morning... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 11:00 am Thursday the stage was 44.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 50.0 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Friday morning and continue to rise to
near 50.6 feet by Friday evening. The river will fall below flood stage by
Saturday morning.
* At stages near 51.0 feet... West Virginia Route 60 east, Main Street, above pats
branch is flooded.
* A crest near 50.5 feet compares to a previous crest of 52.2 feet on March 13
2011.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Guyandotte River at Branchland.
* At 8:30 am Thursday the stage was 33.6 feet and rising slowly.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 33.8 feet by this afternoon.
The river will fall below flood stage tonight.
* At stages near 35.0 feet... roads along the Guyandotte near West Hamlin begin to
flood.
* A crest near 33.8 feet compares to a previous crest of 34.3 feet on April 16
2007.
