August 25th, 4.15pm. cat4 Irene's eye is about 160 miles SE off the coast. Big waves cover our 30 yard wide beach and this is NOTHING compared what people up North will get! PS. The life guard tower is gone. The waves that covered the whole beach and the 50mph gusts took it with them. Life guard left his post just after I took the pic and is fine.

Tishy, thanks for a sound warning, but I was safe standing on a hill zooming my cell to the beach, which can't be seen because the waves covered it completely. I don't know what kind of beach erosion occurred, haven't had time to go see, but will take a shot from the same place to compare, if the lifeguard stand is still there.
