This swarm of bees was about 15 feet up in this tree and it was about two feet long. The pictures aren't that great but there was a pretty strong breeze and it was in the shade. I personally have never seen a swarm of bees this large.

We had a swam very similar to this on our playground this Spring. Our local beekeeper told us a queen bee had left her nest in search of a new one and all her loyal worker bees went with her. She is in the center of this swarm and is sending out workers to find a new site for a nest. That whole swarm will go in mass like this where ever she goes. It was truly amazing.

Thanks for the comments and the rating! I did a lot of researching online last night and was amazed at all I found out about bees. This swarm was on our church property. Today a professional bee keeper came to collect the swarm. They had to cut down two separate branches. She put a hive below and now they are mostly in the hive. She said it was the largest swarm she had ever seen. In this picture much of it is hidden behind the leaves. Very interesting!
