Caption: Our hike up the Appalachian Trail and onto the Boulevard Trail led us up to our overnight stop at the Mt LeConte Lodge at the very top of the mountain. The fog finally lifted near dawn to reveal a most excellent and beautiful sunrise, a great way to start our descent down the Alum Cave Bluff Trail yesterday morning. The trails lay near the border of North Carolina in the beautiful state of Tennessee.
Image Description: Before dawn, the skies cleared of the night's fog and revealed a most gloriously pretty sunrise. Captured along the Boulevard Trail at the top of the mountain, our hiking group of 10 left Newfound Gap the morning before, taking the Appalachian Trail to climb up to this beautiful vantage point. The camp has many cabins for rental for the overnight stay, but make sure to get your reservations in very early in the year as it books up fast!
