Oh boy, maybe you have a different variety. When I was 18 I walked out on a pier, didn't stomp, just walked and out from under that pier came a bunch of mad red wasps. I ended up with 8 stings & they didn't itch they hurt! We used a meat tenderizer mixed with water paste, tylenol & benedryl which made me sleepy - all too happy to dose off & away from the pain.

Nice shot. I don't think the red ones are as aggressive as the black ones, but stings are irritating. Wasps don't cause me much pain, but boy, do they ITCH.

Thanks John. Boy they do hurt when they sting!!
Most of the time they don't let me get this close. I guess he was really busy chomping on that wood. I used a 17-70 2.8-4.5 lens so I was definitely in his space!
